NewBird Invitational
The NewBird Invitational is a golf trip tournament that was established in 2015 by Eric Newsome and Danny Birdsall. It has now become an annual spring event at a new golf destination each year. Over a 4 or 5 day span, 16 golfers play 6 unique rounds of golf with differing formats. All golfers will be competing for both a team championship (Trumbo Cup) and an individual championship (Gisty Belt) with both prizes named after the inaugural trip's winners.

Each player is assigned a NewBird Invitational Index (NBI Index), which is the average of a player's GHIN Index and an index made up of that player's previous 20 NewBird trip scores. For new players joining the trip, their NBI Index will be their GHIN Index plus the average number of strokes gained/lost of the returning players. For the team event, each team is made up of four players, with each player categorized into a handicap range for player seeding. The handicap range for A players is 0-6, B players are 4-8, C players are 6-12 and D players 10-18. The formats and match-ups throughout the trip are structured to match similar seeded players against each other in order to keep the chances of winning the Trumbo Cup or Gisty Belt as equal as possible for each team and player.

The cost of the trip varies from year to year based on the venue. The prize pool ranges each year depending on final cost of the trip and number of players in the field. Winnings will be distributed to each player of the cup winning team and 1st (50%), 2nd (30%) and 3rd (20%) place of the Individual Championship.

There are also individual payouts for each of the 6 rounds during the trip:

-
For round 1, the winning team will each receive cash for winning the Irish Rumble format.
-
For round 2, all winnings paid out to the top player with the lowest Erado net score in each foursome.
-
For rounds 3, 4 & 5, all winnings paid out to the top two 2-man teams with the lowest net best ball score.
-
For round 6, winnings paid out to the player in each foursome that has the most stableford points.
